How to Review and Improve Business Cash Flow

Use Australia’s Payment Times Reporting Scheme as bounded historical context for a dated receipt downside case, not as a benchmark or contract term.

Add the Australian source without changing the global method

Permitted use of Payment Times Reports Register information
QuestionWhat the source can supportWhat it cannot establish
What is reported?Historical reported payment terms and actual payment times for small-business suppliers within the Scheme scopeThe date your invoice will be paid
Where can it be reviewed?Reports published to the public Payment Times Reports RegisterA Margin101-owned dataset or universal payment benchmark
Does the Scheme set terms? The official source states that the Scheme does not set or mandate payment terms for large businessesA required contract term, collection deadline or legal entitlement
Check the source-reference page for evidence scope, monitoring status and review history before using this context.
  1. Complete the global dated cash-flow review using the contract and your own reconciled receipt history.
  2. Confirm that the entity and report being reviewed fall within the public-register context you intend to use.
  3. Record the report period and keep historical reported behaviour distinct from your invoice due date.
  4. If the context exposes timing risk, create a labelled downside receipt date rather than overwriting the baseline.
  5. Compare the lowest balance and next decision under both cases, then record the limitation and review trigger.

Apply the local context to a dated scenario

Australian supplier timing check

This is a user scenario, not a statement about a real entity or a general Australian payment period.

An Australian supplier has an invoice contractually due on 31 August. The baseline cash review uses 31 August and labels the receipt as expected rather than committed because payment has not arrived.

The supplier reviews the relevant public report as historical context. It does not replace the contract date. If that context and the supplier’s own records indicate timing uncertainty, the supplier adds a separate downside date and compares the cash low point.

Australian payment-times questions

Is the public register a payment-time benchmark?
No. It contains historical reports within the Scheme scope. Margin101 does not turn those reports into a recommended term, universal benchmark or prediction.
Does the Scheme set the payment term in my contract?
No. The official source states that the Scheme does not set or mandate payment terms for large businesses. Review the actual agreement and seek qualified advice when the legal position matters.
Does this Australian source change the global cash-flow method?
No. Opening cash, dated receipts, dated payments and the lowest balance remain the method. The Australian register is a source-bounded companion context for one receipt-timing assumption.
